LOCAL ACTION TEAMS (LATS)

January 2005 saw the formation of the Ringmer LAT which brought together members of the local community and the police. Its purpose is to identify, plan and deliver activities to reduce crime and disorder in the Ringmer area. The focus is on addressing specific issues pertinent to the local community and utilising problem solving processes in order to address those issues.

The LAT provides a forum for agreeing on priorities, generating ideas, appraising options and producing a balanced programme which seeks to resolve strategies, using local strategies and the application and delivery of an action plan which commissions the work of other agencies, including the police to resolve a problem.

As  a partner to the Lewes District CDRP, the Ringmer LAT will seek to enforce legislation effectively and develop finance, prevention and diversion tactics.

Funding is available from the Crime and Reduction Partnership to support local projects. Since the Ringmer LAT has been formed the following projects and initiatives  have been generated

Mini motorcycle project

Youth mentoring project

Alcohol DVD

Youth project worker funding

Internet café

Health drop in clinic

Football project, Friday nights and school holidays

Membership consists of representatives from the Police, Ringmer Football club, The Broyle residents association, Ringmer Community College, The Traders Association, Ringmer Parish Council and youth members.

Any interested parties and representatives from community organisations are welcome to attend.
