A modest collection of poetry and song from a family album going back many decades, brought together here for old time's sake and in memory of loved ones.  Most are from early days spent in the Cotswold villages of Adlestrop, and Evenlode near Moreton-in-the-Marsh.

Mainly from the 1930's, some are from original manuscripts and others remembered from the war years 1939 - 1945, thus accounting for the occasional sombre note.  Old fashioned, romantic verse has its place, as do nightingales, which were a plentiful reality of the time and a popular feature of poetry.  Children's verses relate to early years at Adlestrop and later at Boxhill in Surrey.

THANKS FOR THE MEMORIES   Click here

Readers in Gloucestershire may have seen my letter in local newspapers June/July 2001, asking for recollections of life, events, anecdotes from around the 1930's.   I've had many interesting replies and would like to thank those who telephoned me.
